  • Abstract

Ten Years of In-Office Aligners in the Digital Workflow. Conclusion and a Look to the Future

In addition to the initial attempts to achieve progressive tooth movements with aligners based on sequential set-ups on plaster models, the first personal experience with the Invisalign® system was gained from 2006 onwards. Aligner orthodontics is now an integral part of our treatment concept. In recent years, it has been subject to further systematic development in practice and science.

In the presentation, various aspects of this development will be explored and supplemented by our own practical experience. In addition to the scientific knowledge gained from numerous studies, we will focus on intraoral scanning, software, principles of staging and movement planning, 3D printing, and aligner production in our own laboratory. Direct aligner pressure will also be taken into account. Successful treatments as well as mistakes and failures will be discussed and analysed. One dynamic and important area that has recently changed in is networking in further education and the open exchange between colleagues in social networks and on Internet platforms. Finally, aligner orthodontics has become an integral part of university training in Greifswald.
